We are the first tier of local government in Liss, playing an important role in the grass roots level of democracy in our local community and working hard to champion Liss and represent our residents when working with East Hampshire District Council, Hampshire County Council and South Downs National Park Authority, who hold statutory responsibility to administer government services in Liss.
In addition we are responsible for the Village Hall, Liss Pavilion, Newman Collard recreation ground, West Liss recreation ground, Liss Forest recreation ground, including the provision of play equipment, six allotment gardens and a section of the Riverside Railway Walk (part of the Shipwrights Way that runs from Alice Holt to Portsmouth).
We would like to see Liss village centre become a place residents and visitors want to visit more often and where they choose to spend more time. We want to build on current and past initiatives to further the vision set out in the Liss Village Neighbourhood Plan 2011-2028 to sustainably develop Liss village into “an attractive place to live, by improving the built environment….. managing the impact of traffic and improving walking and cycling”.
We have commissioned Hampshire Services (Hampshire County Council’s in-house consultancy service) to undertake a project to identify potential improvements to Liss village centre which are deliverable and fully costed with broad community support.
